SAUVAGE is a full grain aniline leather tanned in a historic leather producing region of Italy using English hides. The century old tannery prepares this leather article by applying a hot wax, then turning the hides in old wooden tanning drums overnight to soften the natural fibers and impart it with a remarkable suppleness. The leather is then upholstered in its "crust form" on the furniture. After the furniture is made our leather artisans apply a multi-step hand rubbed Patina using the same waxes and pigments used in Italy. Performing this process on the actual finished piece allows our artisans to develop a unique Patina composition, and overall essence that creates a piece of furniture with uniqueness, character and style that matches the individual who's selecting it. Sauvage imparts the feeling of a softer, well broken in leather one might find on a decades old chair without the aging issues that sometimes come from the hands of time. Truly a unique, hand-made article in an era when only companies committed to the highest standards lavish this sort of attention and time to unique American made furniture.

True 100% top/full grain cowhide leather is characterized by variations in shade, texture, color and grain. Healed marks and scars are to be expected and enhance the natural beauty of the hides. These variations are normal and unique features of true authentic 100% top/full grain cowhide leather.

Frame Construction: Frames are crafted with a blend of traditional hand techniques and modern manufacturing methods, resulting in the highest standard of upholstery. Each frame is cut and assembled by hand using kiln dried lumber. The structural parts are reinforced with double dowels for durability. Extra stability is added with precisely cut corner blocks, secured with a combination of glue and screws.
